Thomas H. Wade, Sr., USN Retired-CPO, 86, went to his heavenly home Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at his home in Calhoun City. He was born June 13, 1930 in Derma, the son of the Charles W. Wade and Vena Vanlandingham. He was a member of Egypt Baptist Church. He loved his country very deeply, and proudly served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion. Known for his keen sense of humor, he was a prankster and always quick with a one-liner. He was a devoted husband and father, who also loved wood-working, and was an avid fisherman.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 1-2 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City.Funeral services will be at 2 at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Calhoun City. Pallbearers will be Thomas Wade, Jr., Thomas Wade III, Andrew Reese, Ben Reese, Richard Tutor, and Paul Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha Marie Wade, Calhoun City; a son, Thomas Howell (Donna) Wade, Jr., Hollandale; two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Wade Tutor, Calhoun City; Brenda Wade Gaston, Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Mammie Wade Steed, Columbus, GA; Peggy Wade (Ike) Ikerd, Cordova, TN; five grandchildren, Ben Reese, Memphis; Andrew (Elizabeth) Reese, Memphis; Thomas H. Wade III, Hollandale; Kit (Wayne) McCoy, Glen Allen, Melissa (Warren) Johnson, Hollandale; three great-grandchildren, Jenna-Marie Belk, Wayne McCoy, Kallie Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles “Bud” and Dr. Jack Wade; sisters, Hazel Wade Watson, Martha Wade Clanton, Mildred Wade, Elsie Wade Carr, Dixie and Lily Wade.
