Ervin Funderburg, 90, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born January 29, 1927, in the Pleasant Hill Community, the son of Bradford Scott and Frances Fox Funderburg, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. His greatest satisfaction in life came from taking care of his family. He and his son, Danny, were inseparable. In 1988, after a career as an automobile dealer, he opened C.C. Blouses. Though it appeared to be a business move, his main purpose was to fulfill Danny’s dream of owning his own store. They worked together there while also doing the janitorial work at their beloved Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. After Danny’s death in 2010, with Nancy’s health failing, he devoted himself tirelessly to caring for her. He was by her side when she passed away at their home in 2013. Until his health began failing in late 2015, he rarely missed a day of driving himself to town to check on Pam and John Graves, a practice that had begun years before. A very loving and caring man, Mr. Ervin will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
