Opal Goodwin

Opal Ada Goodwin, 95, of Water Valley, passed away  Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. She was born Sunday, Oct. 23, 1921, the daughter of Walter and  Niecie Hollis Blansett. She was the wife of the late Homer Goodwin.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Stella Stewart, Water Valley, and Brenda Kay Goodwin, Water Valley;  brother, Walter T. Blansett, Jr., Murfreesboro, AR. She had 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

She was predeceased by sons, Doyle and Tom Goodwin; daughters, Betty Ruth Sigler and Jewel Burk; brothers, Earnest, John, and Evans Blansett; sister, Clara Dendy, and one grandchild Mike Sprayberry.

She was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, devoted homemaker, and a loving mother. She enjoyed working in the garden, canning vegetables, and quilting.

Her funeral ceremony was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.R. Eaton officiating. Interment was in Bruce Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brandon Eubanks, Edwin Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin, Big Christopher Norwood, Christopher Norwood, Jacob Norwood, Josh Norwood, Matthew Newman, Mason Newman and Walter Stewart.
