Connie Byars

Connie Byars, 75, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at  NMMC in Tupelo. She was born October 10, 1941 in Calhoun City. She was the daughter of Maurice and Elaine Murphree Stewart. She was a retired beautician and  member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and  enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and a spunky personality. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends, and will be missed dearly.

The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City.

A funeral service honoring her life will be  Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pryor Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Jimmy Vance. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Russell, Chad Lucius, Brad Skelton, Austin Griffin, Jay Russell and Tim Walls. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Reese Jr., Jamie Rutherford, Thomas Earl Latham and Jimmy Hardin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Teresa (Steve) Thompson, Doerun, GA and Gina (Jay) Russell, Calhoun City; step-daughter, Donna Byars, Calhoun City; two sisters, Jerry (Bill) Pepin, Lubbock, TX, and Margaret Miller, Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, Jessica (Brad) Skelton, Kristin Russell, and Morgan Russell, all of Calhoun City, and one great-grandchild, Whitley Skelton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
