Wesley Bennett Ruth, 95, of Calhoun City, passed this life on August 31, 2017 at Baptist memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born May 29, 1922 in Slate Springs, to Issac Warner and Lula Mae Ray Ruth. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army where he was a Purple Heart medal recipient. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the D.A.V. He provided for his family as a used car salesman and a taxi service driver in his earlier years of life. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed the outdoors as a deer hunter and a avid crappie fisherman. His ability to tell life stories was one of his best conversation pieces. Among his treasured stories was the article that was published in the Calhoun County Journal about his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Thelma Bramlitt Ruth; brother I.W. Ruth, and sisters, Avis Jones and Mavis Ruth.
He is survived by daughter, Patricia Ruth Turner, Bruce; son, Douglas Ray (Liz) Ruth, Calhoun City; grandchildren, Jean Ann (Porter) Casey, Tony (Kimberly) Ruth, Tymple (John) Harrison, Tyrone (Crystal) Turner, Tegra (Barry) Cannony, Donnie (Michelle) Ruth, Deidra Adams and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 2 from noon until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Vance will be officiating and burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers will be Kent Casey, Wesley Casey, Jacob Ruth, Brandon Ruth, Gabriel Turner and Michael Turner.
