Jewel Duvall

Jewel Dean Hughes Duvall, 81, went to be with her Lord Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.  Jewel was born on April 6, 1936 in the Mount Moriah Community in Calhoun County to the late Millard Hughes and Lis Lancaster Hughes.  She graduated from Bruce High School in 1954 and married Noah Duvall of Lee County on September 5, 1959.
  She retired from Tupelo Public Schools after a career as a Teacher’s Assistant, with most of her years at Lawhon School.  She and her family were longtime owners of Duvall Motors in Tupelo.  Jewel was a longtime active member of the Plantersville First Baptist Church and the Aileen Sample Sunday School Class.  She was a member and past officer of the Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 130.  A kind, gentle soul, she will be sorely missed by a grateful family and many friends.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her pastor, Bro. Danny Balint officiating.  Private burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Wednesday and from 2 PM – service time on Thursday, all at Holland – Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.  Condolences to the family may be e-mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@comcast.net.
Survivors include her son, Noah “Buddy” Duvall, Jr. and wife, Donna and daughter, Jane Duvall Mason and husband, Laine, all of Belden; her grandchildren who lovingly called her Mamaw Jewel, James Noah “Trey” Duvall, III, Katie Anna Duvall, Zackary Laine Mason, Sarah Jane Mason, and Joseph Francis Duvall; two sisters, Pearlene Saxon and jane Farmer and her husband, Joe, all of Bruce; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Noah Duvall, Sr. on May 14, 2004; her son, Donald Dean Duvall on March 24, 2012; a sister, Shirley Hughes and three brothers, James Earl Hughes, Ottis Hughes, and Charles Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Trey Duvall, Steve Hughes, Joe Metcalf, Joe Farmer, and Rickey Reynolds.
