Doris Marzelle Nickels Stewart, 92, passed this earthly life December 22, 2017, at home. Marzelle was born in Choctaw County on October 19, 1925. She graduated from Mathiston High School in 1944. She enjoyed sewing, yard work and working in the church library for many years. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Nowell Massey Funeral Home with Bro. Shayne Martin officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Springs Cemetery approximately four miles east of Calhoun City.
She had a heart of service to God, country, family, friends, and her church and community. God gave her many talents and her desire was to share hiss love and mercy through those abilities.
She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie Reed and Rufus Lloyd Nickels; her husband of over 69 years, David Henry Stewart Sr.; sisters, Shirley Houston and Jean Nelms, and great-grandchildren Kyle Terry and Maggie Rose Cherry. She is survived by sisters, Joy Kilpatrick, Starkville, and Polly Miller, Mathiston; her children, David Stewart, Jr., Dale Stewart and Susie (Ken) Stewart, all of Louisville; grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Stewart, Stephanie (Mark) Covington, Dulcie Cherry, Matt Stewart and Kelsey Stewart and great-grandchildren Cody Stewart, Anna Grace Cherry, Kayla Covington and Tanner Covington, Blake Covington.
Pallbearers will be Ken Stewart, Mark Covington, Jason Stewart, Matt Stewart, Cody Stewart and Blake Covington. Memorials in her honor may be given to Lake Forest Ranch, 5326 Lake Forest Rd, Macon, MS 39341.
