Michael “Smurf” Spears, 51, of Calhoun City, passed away at his home Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Born June 1, 1966 in Vardaman, he was the son of Willie P. “Bill” Spears, Jr. and Rose Tedder Spears Moore. He was a member of New Gauley Freewill Baptist Church, and was retired after driving a log truck many years. His big smile and great sense of humor will always be remembered, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. at New Gauley Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Rodgers officiating. Pallbearers will be Kickstarter and Yankee. Honorary pallbearers will be Lil’Bit, Lookout, JJ, Roaddawg, Toothpick and Q-Ball.
He leaves behind two sisters, Brenda Spears and Christie (Everette) Parker, both of Calhoun City; special friend, Angie Tallant, Bruce; nephews, Caleb Moore, Bruce, and J.R. Parker, Calhoun City, and niece, Hayley Moore, Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lisa Ann Spears, and brother, William “Buddy” Moore, Jr.
