Mary Jo Meeker, 76, of Gore Springs, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. Born May 17, 1941, in Earle, AR, she was the daughter of Fred Alonzo and Mamie Bell McCorkle Wood. She was a homemaker, and of Baptist faith.<--more-->
She had tremendous love for her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandchild. One of her greatest joys was spoiling them, but those who knew her will remember she had no fear of giving tough love, and knew she would always tell it like it was. Her family and friends knew her to be an unselfish person, who would do anything for anybody if she was able. She loved to fish and play bingo. Her family will always remember that she also loved telling jokes “even when she forgot the funny part.” A very kind and loving woman, she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be Monday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Kenneth Armstrong will be officiating.
She leaves behind her daughter, Abby Jo Thomas, Cadaretta; brother, Kenneth Wood, Helena, AR; grandchildren, Markie Bell Thomas, Sarah Jo Thomas and Ryan Perkins, Eupora, and great-grandchild, Kingslee Josiah Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Lee Meeker, and sons, Doug, Timothy and David.
