Martha Sue Lee Feazell, 78, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at NMMC in Tupelo. She was born in Calhoun City, on August 11, 1939, to David Baine Lee, Sr. and Mildred Helen Parrette Lee. Growing up she lived in many different houses around Calhoun City, as well as in Big Creek, Ellzey and Vardaman, she also live in Beaumont, Tx. during World War II. She always loved cooking and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, shopping at Wal-Mart, and telling stories about her past life. She talked about how she missed her mother Helen and not being with her younger sister Kathy Faye after the death of her mother. She spoke of how she loved and missed her grandparents; Burl Lee and Mattie Lee and Mattie Gaston Parrette. She was fond of and thankful for her Uncle Abner and Aunt Mary Gay Lee for taking her and her two brothers in to their family after the death of her mother in 1950. She enjoyed all the years she spent with Uncle Abner and his family when she was growing up before and after her mother’s death. She often spoke of Martha Sue Sugg, her best friend, in school and growing up. She enjoyed the closeness that they had all those years as a young person and their friendship. She was an expert plumber and could rub shoulders with the best of the men-plumbers just like her Aunt Lydia Belle Lee Ramage was a rough and tumble lady. She was a gentlewoman, gracious, generous and caring; her husband Sammie, children and grandchildren just loved her; especially grandson Riley. All in all, her life was huge, and she lived it fully. As a migrant/itinerant worker she and Sammie followed a well traveled road [reminds one of the movie “The Grapes of Wrath” w/Henry Fonda]. She gave birth to her nine children in California, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
When her mother died in 1950 she and two siblings, Baine Junior and James Harold were taken in by Abner and Mary Lee family while their new baby sister Kathy Faye was taken in by her Aunt Annie Lee Dunaway of Senatobia. During the years she lived with the Ab Lee family she helped in all of the duties of farming, gardening and house chores. Martha Sue also helped Junior Lee and Jean Lee with their children; Sandra, Daniel and Larry during the years with the Abner Lee family. Martha Sue and her cousins would catch June bugs every year and tie a thread to a leg to hold the bug so it could fly around in circles, then use a pint size Mason jar to catch lightning bugs/fireflies and spend lots of exciting and pleasurable evenings lighting up the dark nights in the cotton field. She enjoyed running with her many cousins, both boys and girls and riding horses of Uncle Abner. Martha Sue, as a youth, was schooled at Big Creek, Calhoun City and Vardaman; also she was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Calhoun City.
Funeral services were February 22 at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Cagle officiating. Burial followed in Gaston Cemetery in Booneville. She is survived by her sons, Danny J. Feazell, L.B. Feazell, Jr., Arthur Paul (Lynn) Feazell, Allen S. (Andasia) Feazell, and Toby D. Feazell; daughter, Deborah Feazell Hubbard; granddaughter/daughter, Angel Sparkle Lynn Cuellar Feazell; sister, Kathy Faye Lee Davis of Senatobia, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
