Jim Blaylock

A Celebration of Life service for Jim Blaylock, 80, of Counce, TN, will be Sunday, July 29 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Counce. Bro. Jimmie McChristial will officiate the service. He  passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at his residence in Counce, TN. He was born January 19, 1938 in Bruce, to James Walter Blaylock, Sr. and Danny Rue James Blaylock 

He was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Counce, where he served as Business Administrator. He was an ordained minister. He retired with 40 years of service from Farm Supply organizations all over the state of IL. After serving his country in the Army National Guard, he worked briefly at MS Hwy. Department as a surveyor. He worked for the railroad as the telegrapher and station manager.

He graduated from Ellard High School in Bruce in 1957. He loved fishing, camping, going on cruises, landscaping, going to auctions, spending time with his grandchildren and going to their ballgames. His first love was the work he did at church and ministering to everyone. He enjoyed going to CentriKid camp with the church. For many years he and his wife would go to church camp and cook for the kids.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwen Bray Blaylock, Counce, TN; son,  Mark (Sue) Blaylock, Macomb, IL; daughters, Lisa Blaylock, Nashville, TN; Karen (Marlin) Wilkerson, Pellia, Ia. and Cindy (Johnathan) Simmons, Marianna, AR; grandchildren, Megan Tucker, Nick (Rachel) Wilkerson, Ryan Wilkerson, Jacob Simmons, Lauren Simmons, Angelina Blaylock, Anna Simmons, Rachel Blaycock; great-grandchild, Hunter Wilkerson;  brothers, William (Von) Blaylock, Oakland, and Sammy (Lisa) Blaylock, Columbus; sister, Ruthie Jean (Jimmy) Carroll,  Bruce; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
