Gale Baker Lester, 71, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018. Born January 19, 1947 in Bruce, she was the daughter of Lee Troy and Leslie Christine Sipes Baker. She attended Ellard High School, and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. In 1964, she and Sonny Lester were married, and they spent 54 wonderful years together. She lived her life in the presence of God through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and gave him praise, honor and glory for carrying her through to the end of her earthly life and into his presence. She was a great mother and friend, and loved all of her family very much, and her memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.
There will be a visitation Monday, from 5-7 at Pryor Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life wil be Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 2 pm at the funeral home. Bro. Jeff Harmon and Bro. Marlon Long will be officiating. Interment will follow at New Liberty Cemetery in Vardaman. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Sonny Lester; sons, Tommy (Debbie) Lester, Vardaman, Dewey (Becky) Lester, Vardaman; Stacey (Shirley) Lester, Gore Springs; step-daughter, Sissy Carter, Alabama; sisters, Betty Turner, Southaven, and Jo (Robert) Cumberland, Calhoun City; brothers, Harold Baker and Danny (Joni) Baker, Southaven; grandchildren, Dewayne Lester, Katlin Lester, Ashley Lester, Derrica Branson, D.C. Lester, Brandon Lester, Tyler Lester, Joseph Lester; step-grandchildren, Brian Smith, Woody Smith, Tiffany Carter, J.J. Getz, Ryan Carter, and she was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul and James William Baker; sisters, Nola Fay Mabry, Lola Helms, Margaret White; granddaughter, Sumar Lester, and great-grandson, Andrew Lester.
