John Benjamin “J.B.” Edwards, 95, passed away, Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 at Bruce Community Living Center. He was born May 15, 1923 in Calhoun County to George Washington and Ellie L. Hipp Edwards. He enjoyed helping others, building fences or share cropping to provide for his family. Later in life he worked for the Lafayette county maintenance Department. He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Nellie Lancaster Edwards; sons, Travis and Johnny Edwards; sisters, Helen Hellums, Lillie Davis, Hollan Quarles, Alice Whitworth, Ila McCord, and Ruby Stewart, and brother, Howard Edwards.
Those left to honor his memory are daughters, Paulette Edwards (James) Barbee, Banner; Doris Edwards (Jerry) Logan, Banner; Joann Edwards (Billy) Barfield, Vardaman; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
His funeral service was Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with. Bro. Luc Michaud and Bro. Bobby Snow officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Barbee, Michael Barbee, B.J. Barfield, Daron Edwards, Dean Edwards, Jason Logan and Justin Logan. Honorary pallbearers were Benjamin Barbee and Chase Goolsby.
