Joseph Boyd “Joe” Walker III, 64, passed away peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. Born July 9, 1954 in Ft. Benning, Ga, he was the son of Sgt. Joseph Boyed Walker, Jr. and Mary Doris Bessimere Walker. He was a 1973 graduate of Vardaman High School, and member of New Providence Baptist Church. He spent many years as a forklift operator at Tecumseh Products in Verona. He was an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and Denver Broncos. But if he wasn’t watching football, he could usually be found in the woods deer hunting or on the water fishing. A true outdoorsman, he loved to be outside enjoying nature. Above all, he loved his family, and cherished the time he spent with his grandkids. He was a big man with a kind heart and a gentle soul. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
A funeral service celebrating his life was Monday at Pryor Funeral Home with Bro. Jon Stewart will be officiating. Interment was at New Providence Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Roger Christian, William Walker, Greg Presley, Dakota Walker, Preston Bullard, and Brian Funderburk. Honorary pallbearers were Beau Walker, Seth Walker, William Nowlin, and Brandon Walker.
He leaves behind his wife, Sheila Ellis Walker, Tupelo; children, Boyd (Brittney) Walker Pontotoc; Christy Bullard, Houston; Jason (Kayla) Walker, Pontotoc; Chris Jones, Big Creek, and Katrina (Nick) Murphy, Tupelo; grandchildren, Madison Bullard, Preston Bullard, Isabella Bullard, Beau Walker, Seth Walker, Hannah Nowlin, William Nowlin, Dakota Walker, and Jaycie Walker, Jolie Murphy, and Derrick Murphy; and sister, Donna Walker Yahne, Venice, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
