Loye Brooks Kelley, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Calhoun City Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018. Born April 20, 1949 in Pontotoc County. He was the son of Clyde Kelley and Burma “Brandon” Kelley.

Brooks was of Baptist faith, and a 1969 graduate of Hurricane High School in Pontotoc County. In high school he loved playing basketball, and was known to be hard to handle on the court. He and his wife, Jean, were married on February 14, 1975.

He was a hard worker. Working as a crane operator with Anslow/Bryant, he would often be away from home on the job, but taking care of his family was his top priority. He retired in 2016 after many years of service. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family, and especially loved a good episode of “The Three Stooges.”

His loss was sudden, and his family is grieving, but his memory will be cherished forever in their hearts, and they find some comfort in knowing they will be reunited one day.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at 2 pm at Pryor Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Morris officiating. There will  be a visitation on Friday, Dec. 21 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Hitt, Travis Scott, C.J. White, Randle Kelley, J.J. Hitt, and Seth Scott.

He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Jean Crutchfield Kelley; sons, Charles (Darlene) White, Bruce, and Michael (Alysha) Kelley, Houston, TX; daughters, Stephanie (John) Hitt and Natasha (Travis) Scott, both of Calhoun City; a sister, Deloris (Hub) Swords of Southaven; nine grandchildren, J.J. Hitt, C.J. White, Randle Kelley, Seth Scott, Gabriel Scott, Jordyn Scott, Brooks Scott Kelley, Jamie Duke, and B.J. Duke.
