Delaine Turner

James Delaine Turner, Sr. passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2018 at NMMC in Tupelo following a brief illness. Born December 11, 1934 in Calhoun County to  James Andrew and Mary Maggie Massey Turner, he was 84.

A millwright and logger most of his life, he was also a veteran, honorably serving as a soldier in the United States Army. Among the many who mourn his passing are his church family at Bruce First Baptist Church, where he was a member.

He leaves behind son, Jimmy (Kali) Turner, Bruce; daughter, Aneeda (Ricky) Russell, Bruce; sisters, Maxine Cain and Brenda Campbell, both of Bruce; grandchildren, Jeremy C. (Daraka) Brown, Andy Turner, Matthew Turner, Joseph Turner, and great-grandchildren, Conner, Cohen and Canyon Brown, and Brayden Turner.

There will be a visitation with the family  Wednesday, Jan. 2  from 5-8 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A funeral service celebrating his life will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. He will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery. 

Serving the family as pallbearers will be John J. Campbell, Tony Cain, Terry Leachman, Phillip Pettit, Jerry Snellings, Larry Snellings, Bubba Weeks and Cody Weeks.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Myra Jo Blount Turner; brothers Gayle  and A.B. Turner, and sisters Jimmie Faye Davis, Dorothy Nell Spearman and Helen Rushing.
