Evelyn Davidson Weeks, 87, strolled peacefully into Heaven May 30, 2019 at Baptist Calhoun Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born August 25, 1932 in Calhoun County to the Brady L. and Jessie Hughes Davidson.
She was an expert seamstress by trade and blessed Glenn Slacks garment plant with her employment for many years. Upon retirement she found time to cultivate an endless garden so she could can her myriad of a harvest, and provide those close to her with a delicious homegrown meal for days to come. She couldn’t let her sewing skills go to waste so she kept practice creating and mending all sorts of pieces. She was a very active lady and evidenced this by her support to the Homemakers club, and her devotion to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
She leaves her daughter June Sexton, Bruce; grandson, Cary Sexton, Deep Run, NC; brother, James Davidson, Bruce; granddaughters, Carli (Joel) Bryant, Houston, Tx., and Christina Sexton, Bruce; great grandchildren, Justin Ashmore, Ava Bryant, Levi Bryant, Hannah Knox, Shelby Sexton, Brady Sexton, Cara Lee Sexton, and Gavin Sexton.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Wade Weeks, and her parents, Brady L. and Jessie Hughes Davidson.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral in Bruce. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mt.Moriah Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Hamilton officiating and Bro.Robert Earl Alexander and Bro. Wayne Cobb assisting. She will be laid to rest in Mt.Moriah Cemetery with Michael Brown, Joel Bryant, Joe Farmer, Rodney Shepard, Rickey Joe Whitten, Trey Whitten as pallbearers.
