Richard Matthew Johnson, 87, of Hernando, died December 18, 2019 at Panola Medical Center in Batesville.
Born November 22, 1932 in Shaw, he was the son of Bill Cannon and Bessie Grey Cannon. He was the husband of Mavis McCormick Johnson.
He was known for his work as an accountant of Kellwood, where he worked 35 years before retiring. On top of being a hard worker, he found time to enjoy the sport of golf. He was an avid member of Parkway Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of family and his grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Shelia (Barry) Sowell, Hernando, and Phyllis (Jeff) Barnard, Meadow Vista, CA; brother, Bobby Cannon, Pittsboro; sister, Betty Langford, Vardaman; grandchildren, Brandy (Jes) Smith, Matt (April) Sowell, Valerie (Brendan) McAcy, Monte (Gina) Barnard, Devon (Carlos) Martinez and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Billy and Charles Cannon, and sister, Shirley Baker.
His funeral service was Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Ramage officiating.
