Willie Bea Thacker, 89, passed away peacefully at Fernbrook Manor in Houston December 30, 2019. Born April 10, 1930, in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of Francis M. Vanlandingham and Ludie Mae Dye. She attended Derma Pentecostal Church. On November 29, 1958, she married Clyde Thacker, and they enjoyed 52 years together until his passing in 2010. She loved to cook and work in her garden. She also loved raising her hogs. She cherished the time spent visiting with her great nieces and nephews and taking care of her family. She also loved her dog, Tim, who was her baby. Her family and friends will remember her dearly, as she is now rejoicing in her Heavenly home.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at Pryor Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating. There will be visitation Wednesday from noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oak Springs Cemetery in Derma. Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Dickerson, Larry Patterson, Kenny Langford, Tyler Hill, Thomas Earl Goodson, and Johnny Langford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Haimes, Darla Purifoy, and Britney Hill.
She leaves behind her niece, Felicia Haimes, and her nephew, Robert White, who were also her caretakers, along with several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Thacker; brother, Howard Vanlandingham; and sisters, Vernie Hughes, Clara Langford, Eula Langford, Carrie Hicks, Lora Patterson, Irene Vanlandingham, Dorothy White and Mallie Vanlandingham.
