Paul Ernest “Neg” Russell, 87, died November 25, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He was born in Calhoun County on February 4, 1932 to Ivan and Freda Alexander Russell. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. He was an embalmer for at Houston Funeral Home. He was in the MS State Guard 14 years and retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army, where he served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He was a Mason, active member of the V.F.W, D.A.V. and American Legion. All who knew him knew his first love was fishing and the love for his animals, especially “Blackie”.
Memorial services with full military honors will be at New Liberty Baptist Church in New Liberty, MS on Saturday, Feburary 1 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Nick Harris officiating.
Houston Funeral Home will be in charge arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Annetta Russell, Vardaman; daughters, Lisa (Marty) Gibson, Corinth; Toni Lawshe, Lexington, and Christie (Wayne) Ray, Lexington; sister, Pat (Harold) Easley, Houston, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, son, two brothers, and two sisters.
