Albert Varnado was born January 15, 1936 to Stanley and Izora Woodard Varnado in Big Creek. He transitioned from this earthly life on January 16, 2020.
‘Bully’ as he was known by many, married Ora Bell Pittman of Big Creek. He later married Ann Dukes of Calhoun City.
He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Big Creek and later joined Oak Grove M.B. Church in Derma. He served as deacon and was a faithful member until his death. Often times he would lead the congregation is his favorite song, “Lord, Hold My Hand While I Run This Race.”
He retired from Heat Craft in Grenada after 35 years there as a box boarder and painter. He was a hard-working man who loved being on his tractor, gardening, mowing yards and working on cars. He spent time instillin and teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends his crafts and work ethic.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: sons, Larry (Julie) King, Omaha, NE; John (Mary) Kilgore, Calhoun City; Albert (Loretta) Varnado, Duck Hill; Bobby Varnado, Jackson; James (Tiffany) Varnado, Memphis; Jerry (Blanche) Varnado, Pontotoc; Terry (Sandy) Varnado, Memphis; daughters, Martha (John) Williams, Vardaman; Robbie (T.J.) Stovall; Thelma Varnado, Calhoun City; step-son James Hampton, Oxford; very special friend, Rosie Robinson, Gore Springs; brother-in-law, Randolph (Janie) Pittman, Rochester, HY; 33 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; sister, Katherine Stovall; brothers, Joe, Bobby and Walter; daughters, Linda Varnado-Townsend, Jessie King-Cake, Essie Bell king-Smith and step-son James ‘Doug’ Dukes.
His funeral service was January 25 at Oak Grove in Derma. Interment services were at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Belle Memorial Funeral Home-Bruce in charge of the arrangements.
