Carolyn Edwards Dorris, 81, of Bruce, passed away April 23, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born October 6, 1938, to Herb and Maude Edwards of Rocky Branch community. She graduated from Ellard High School, attended Draughon’s Business College, and served 41 years with MS Department of Human Services.
She was a member of Ellard Baptist Church, active parent in Calhoun County 4-H program, served on the boards of the Calhoun County Fair, Calhoun County Pork Producers Association, MS Pork Producers Association, and was a member of Calhoun County Homemakers Club
She enjoyed playing piano and served as church choir director many years. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, which earned her many first place ribbons at the Calhoun County Fair through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Liles; niece, Audrey Liles; son, Ken Dorris, and her devoted husband of 64 years, Max Dorris. She is survived by sons, Keith (Shelley) Dorris, French Camp; Brian (Tommie) Dorris, Bruce; grandchildren, Katie (Jonathan) Crenshaw, Nashville; Jessica (Casey) Simmons, K’Ann (Ben) Spears, Boston; Ashley (Mack) Williams, Eupora; Grant Dorris, Bruce; Zane Dorris, French Camp; great-grandchildren, Lilley Williams, Edie and Linnie Ann Crenshaw; nieces, Angie (Martin) Keil, Brandon; Jennifer Liles, Brandon; nephew, Brad (Dana) Liles, Bruce; two great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Her graveside service was Saturday at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Bruce with Bro. Kevin Chrestman officiating. Pallbearers were Jonathan Crenshaw, Grant Dorris, Zane Dorris, Brad Liles, Casey Simmons and Mark Williams.
