Evander ‘BMG LilVan’ Lorenzo Holmes died May 22, 2020. He was born December 18, 1993 in Grenada, to Lorenzo (Jackie) Holmes and Janet (Christopher) Varnado. He was a member of Faithway MB Church in Houston. He was 2012 graduate of Vardaman High School, and a fulltime employee of American Furniture of Pontotoc until his death. Known as the protector of his family, he gave unconditionally. He loved his family, especially great niece Kylah.
Survivors include his dad, Lorenzo (Jackie) Holmes, West Point; his mom, Janet (Christopher) Varnado, Calhoun City; brother, Niko Holmes, Calhoun City; sisters, Kalibra Holmes, Amia Corbitt, Kyneasha Varnado, all of Calhoun City; special friend, Ashonesta Brownlee, and special son, Ashton Brownlee, Vardaman, both of whom he loved dearly; maternal grandfather, Scott Echols, Eupora; paternal grandparents, Albert Jr. (Loretta) Varnado, Duck Hill, and Shirley Varnado, Calhoun City; special nieces Kylah Clavert and Kynaisha Varnado, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death of his grandmother, Ollie Ree Armstrong, and paternal grandparents, Henry (Martha Joe) Holmes.
His funeral service was May 30 at New Hope Church in Bruce with Pastor Gerard Valliant officiating. Burial was in Clear Springs Cemetery in Big Creek.
Pallbearers were Fredrick Armstrong, Ira Holmes, Mark Fox, Steve Jones, Hunter Brown, Mario Edmond, Octavious McKinney and Tray Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Jennings, Dreze Jones, James Avant, HJonathan Herod, Markeit Pass, DeAnta Dwing, D.J. Ewing, Jaqwaves Armstrong, Lakreston Ewing.
Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce was in charge of the arrangements.
