Donnie Nell Brownlee Moore, 81, passed from this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Bruce Community Living Center after a lengthy illness.  She was born October 20, 1939 in Laurel, Mississippi. Donnie was a daughter to the late James Vardaman Brownlee and Clyde Windell Lowery Brownlee.

Donnie, with an Associate’s Degree, found a lifelong career working in Mississippi’s public school system. She served as a secretary for the Carthage School System before her family moved to Bruce. She also spent many days as a substitute teacher for various grade levels in the South Pontotoc School System.  She enjoyed yardwork, especially tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. When Donnie wasn’t working her gardens she could often be found gazing at the unique characteristics of birds.  Donnie cherished her family with true love, but she showed a special affection to her grandchildren. With her loving motherly and grandmotherly attributes on display, she was fond of younger children; they always could steal her attention at any given time. Upon Donnie’s request, she wanted any excess funds in her estate to go to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion to aid in looking after underprivileged children.

She is survived by three daughters: Theresa (Ken) Dye of Bruce; Doris Moore of Grenada; Deborah (Dave) McCormick of Houlka; four sisters: Peggy (Lonnie) Stephens of Laurel; Lillie (Robert) Schoggins of Laurel;  Annie (Boots) Harrington of Laurel; Sarah (Lionell) Campbell of Petal; seven grandchildren: Justin Stepp, Jody Dye, Joshua Tallent, Katie Cox, Andrea Jackson, Anna Cooper; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmy Lee Moore, who passed away February 12, 1999; and her parents.

Graveside service was January 3 at Robbs Cemetery with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Pallbearers were Dustin Cox, Steven Cox, Jody Dye, Kenneth Dye, Dave McCormick, Colin Tallent and Joshua Tallent. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be composed at parkermemorialfuneralhomes.com
