Marie Cantrell Hurst, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. Born October 15, 1922,in Ecru, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Roy Cantrell and Sarah Jane Parker
Cantrell. She was the wife of the late Ottis Paul Hurst. She was an LPN for 43 years and had been employed by Graceland Nursing Home and the Bruce Hospital. She was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Paul Wayne (Debbye) Hurst, Bruce; daughter, Carroll Jean (Herman) Austin, Pontotoc; six grandchildren, Danny (Phyllis) Allredge, Pelham, Al.; Christi Austin (Gary) Cowsert, Pontotoc;
Hope Hurst (Glen) Blanton, Madison; Aleshia Austin (Mark) McCord, Pontotoc; Amber Hurst (Mike) Phelan, Germantown, TN., and Alex Hurst (Whit) Freeman, Bruce; 17 great-grandchildren, two great
-great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Wanda Hurst, Pelham, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, William Ottis Hurst; sister, Pearl Jordon. and brothers, Marrin Cantrell and Sonny Cantrell.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Interment will be in Memory Memorial Garden, Bruce. Pallbearers will be Glenn Blanton, Gary Cowsert, Whit Freeman, Mark McCord, Mike Phelan, Tommy Roane and John Snellings. The family will receive friends from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce.
