Clinton Elvis McGreger

Clinton Elvis McGreger, 89, of Pittsboro, died  August 21, 2013 at his home. He was born September 26, 1923 in Calhoun County, the son of Clarence Newton and Maudie Murphree McGreger. He was a graduate of Vardaman High School, and an active member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer for many years. Making their home in the Rocky Mount community on the family farm, he was married to Cela Mitchell for 70 years. A farmer by profession, he had a love for the land and for his farm.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. His funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Pittsboro with Bro. Larry Haggard and Bro. Clovis Logan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lowell Bryant, Scott Collins, J.C. Haire, Sid Haire, Nathan McGreger, Nick McGreger, Jerry Murphree and Jamie Sims.

Survivors include his wife, Cela Mitchell McGreger, Pittsboro; one daughter, Sandra (Tommy) Rogers, Tupelo; one son, Mitch (Christy) McGreger, Bruce; one sister, Moss Green, Bruce; four grandchildren, Jamie (Evelyn) Sims, Amanda (Brandon) Beckett, Nathan (Angela) McGreger, Nicholas (Chelsea) McGreger; three step-grandchildren, Chad (Ann) Rogers, Brad (Meadow) Rogers, Haley Williams, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Audie Burt, Beatrice Haire and Birtis Bryant. Also preceded in death by a brother, Buel McGreger.
