Fred Bennett

Fred Lee Bennett passed away May 19, 2015 in Phoenix, Az. at the age of 84. He was born in Bruce on November 10, 1930 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He completed a very successful and distinguished 26-year military career achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. In 21 of his 26 years of service, he was assigned overseas with tours that included Germany, the Philippines, Japan and Vietnam.

After retirement from the Air Force, he settled in Phoenix and completed a bachelor’s degree program at Arizona State University. He worked in the Houston area for several years but returned to Phoenix where he was employed with the Arizona Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three step-children, Shirley Garcia, Stacy Schneider and Jim Cunningham, and all their families, who are all living in the valley. In addition, there are two nephews and a niece in Texas. Since 2002, he was a member of Calvary Church of the Valley and a volunteer in the Retiree Office at Luke Air Force Base.

The family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley.
