Betty Ivy

Betty June Bennett Ivy, 80, of Bruce, Mississippi, passed peacefully from this world Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the home of her daughter.   Born Friday, June 29, 1934, in Coahoma County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Walter Frank Bennett and Dolly Maudine Edwards Bennett.

A former garment worker, homemaker, and retailer, Mrs. Ivy was artistic and creative, enjoying needlework and crafts of all kinds, especially crochet. In her final year of life she crocheted numerous hats for The Fabric of Hope charity. Throughout her life she worked alongside her husband as a true helpmate, joining fully in every endeavor from cattle farming to clearing new ground, from auctions to antiques and retail.


She is survived by her husband Delane Ivy whom she married August 25, 1951, her son Jimmy Mac Ivy (Nancy), her daughter Ann Ivy King and special son-in-law Michael King; her  grandchildren Jennifer Ivy, John Ivy, and Brett King (Melissa) all of Bruce. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren who were the delight of her final years Hardy McCormick, Eli Goolsby, and Isabel King.

The eldest of five children, Betty is survived by siblings Jimmie Nell Boutot of Mesa, Arizona; Walterene Stribling (Roger) of Southaven, Mississippi; Frances Thomson of Saltville, Virginia; and Larry Bennett (Donna) of Bruce, Mississippi.

Funeral service will be at 10 AM Friday, June 12 in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jim Earl Aron, Dean Brummett, Jimmy Collins, John Ellard, Bruce Longest and Terry Allen Massey,
