Frank Shaw, 80, died June 6, 2015. He was born March 15, 1935, the son of Cephas and Bennie McGowan Shaw, who preceded him in death. He was a faithful member and deacon of Bridges Chapel M.B. Church, under the leadership of Pastor Tommie Goodwin. He was educated in Calhoun County System prior to integration. He was a longtime employee of Weyerhaeuser in Bruce before he retired.
He was married to Icy Bell Armstrong Shaw and to this union six children were born: Brenda (Dwight) Smith, Montgomery, Al.; Frank Shaw Jr., Grenada; Bernetia Shaw, Virginia; Arnitta (Jerry) Pryor, Oxford; Janette Shaw-Duff, Montgomery, Al., and Jimmy (Lashon) Shaw, Pittsboro; one sister, Thelma Franklin, Pittsboro; one brother, Theo Jones, Detroit, Mi.; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He later married Idell Woodard Shaw and established a loving relationship with children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jessie L., Calvin C. and John E. Shaw, and three sisters, Bernice Shaw Williams, Susie Shaw Holland and Annie Mae Shaw Gray.
His funeral service was June 13 at 11 a.m. at Jackson Chapel MB Church with Pastor Thomas Tillman officiating. Burial was in Clear Springs MB Church Cemetery in Big Creek with Eddie Robinson Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements. Friends served as active pallbearers and nephews were honorary pallbearers.
