Lavelle Harmon Dalton, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at her home in Paris, surrounded by her family. She was born November 28, 1930 in the Paris community in Lafayette County, to Richard H. and Rosa Holmes Harmon. As long as her health permitted, she was an active and faithful member of Paris Baptist Church. She was previously employed at Big Yank (formerly Rice Stix) in Water Valley. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading her Bible and studying God’s Word, gardening and flowers.
Her funeral service was Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Burial was in Paris Cemetery with Marty Harmon, Timmy Castleberry, Mack Thweatt, Cory Thweatt, Dave Yarbrough, Jake Yarbrough, Eddie Harmon and Davis Harmon serving as pallbearers.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Ruth Dalton, Paris; her son, Ricky Dalton, Paris; two grandchildren, Dana Dalton and Dylan Dalton, both of Paris; her sister, Laverne Thompson, Water Valley; a niece who was thought of as a daughter, Beth (Mack) Thweatt, Paris, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Dalton; three sisters, Faye Coulter, Joyce Yarbrough, and Macie Castleberry; and four brothers, Marton Harmon, Mayford Harmon, Tom Harmon and John Harmon.
