Mitchell Campbell died February 29, 2016. He was born August 29, 1937 in Calhoun City, the son of Silas and Willie Campbell. He loved to hunt, fish and farm. After graduating from Bruce High School in 1959, he worked on the family farm. He also had various other jobs--hauled pulpwood, drove a school bus and worked at Memphis Hardwood until he retired. He served as secretary for the drainage committee until his health failed.
His funeral was Sunday, Mar. 6 at 2 pm. at New Hope COGIC in Bruce with Pastor William Davis officiating. Interment was in Zion Springs Cemetery with Robinson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons Dedrick, Antonio and Brendon Clark, Christopher Campbell, Eddie Robinson, Kedric Pittman and Leonte Tillman.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mildred Thompson Campbell, Bruce; four daughters, Brenda Clark, Pontotoc; Tammy Pittman, Grenada; Linda (Gary) Liggins, Pittsboro and Shelia Robinson, Gore Springs, 13 grandchildren, Dedrick Clark, Kedric Pittman, Antonio Clark, Christopher Campbell, Eddie Robinson, Brendon Clark, Leante Tillman, Kendrica Pittman, Kenyanna Campbell, Domeniqua Pittman, Shunterria Campbell, LaDaliaha Pittman, Joniyah Campbell; eight great grandchildren, Jovonte, Micayveun, Saniyah, Jayden, Keymonte, Londyn, Kenath, Amaris; brother, O.V. Campbell, Bruce; two sisters, Rachel (John) Herod, Water Valley; Ann (William) Robinson, Gore Springs; six sisters-in-law, Minnie Tillman, Bruce; Dorothy Campbell, Charleston, Hildred Johnson, Coffeeville; Betty Campbell, Pittsboro; Georgia Campbell, Bruce; Cecelia Campbell, Calhoun City; five brothers-in-law, H.T.
