Earl W. Murphee, 74, of McGregor, Tx., passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in a local nursing home. A memorial service was Thursday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor with Reverend Paul Allison officiating. Military Honors were provided by Fort Hood Honor Guard. He was born October 24, 1941 in Bruce, to Pird and Louise Mason Murphree. Retired from the United States Army, he served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. He was an avid golfer and loved to bass fish, but his true love was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Megan Murphee.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Murphee, McGregor, son; Michael (Barbara) Murphee, King George, Va.; daughter, Pamela (Rusty) Toney, McGregor; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Emily Murphee, Austin; Rachel (Rick) Chapman, Crawford; Renae Toney and fiancé, Erik Mercado, Arlington, and Kenny “Buck” (Kim) Berry, Montross, Va., two great granddaughters; sister, Elaine (Larry) Hollis, Milton, Fl., four nephews and three nieces.
