On Monday, June 13, 2016, Dorothy “Dot” Freely Beckett, 77, was wonderfully and completely healed as she drew her last breath here on Earth and entered heaven in a new body. She was born December 21, 1938, to the late Robert and Jannie Vanlandingham Freely in Vardaman, MS. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. During her time spent here on Earth, she poured her life into being a devoted pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, and Sunday School teacher, serving the Lord in any way she could.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parker Funeral Home, Bruce, MS. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Parker Funeral Home, Bruce, with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating and Dr. Bobby Douglas assisting and Parker Funeral Home directing.
She and her gentle sweet spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family, but they rest in the comfort of knowing they will be united again one day. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby and Danny Freely, and her son-in-law-James Ghaffari.
Mrs. Beckett is survived by her husband, Bro. Billy Joe Beckett, Columbus; sons-Tim (Cherell) Beckett and Joe Beckett, both of Columbus; daughter, Janie Ghaffari, Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Cade Ghaffari, Jessica Ghaffari, Parker Ghaffari, Summer Ghaffari, Alex Beckett, Jessica (Jay) Grisham, and Anna Katherine Beckett; great grandchildren, Freely Grace Grisham, Justice Grisham, Daily Grisham, and Walker Grisham, and sister-in-law-Pat Freely.
Pallbearers will be Alex Beckett, Jay Grisham, Parker Ghaffari, Cade Ghaffari, Donald Freely and Scott Freely.
