Ruth Laverne Chrestman, 94 of Pittsboro, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at her daughter’s residence in Pittsboro. Born June 15, 1922 in Pittsboro, she was the daughter of Clarence Walker and Vara Thelma Lowe Moorman. She was former secretary for the Superintendent of Education in Calhoun County Schools for 24 years. She was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church where she was a nursery worker for over 30 years.
Surviving are daughter, Shelia (Larry) Winter, Pittsboro; two granddaughters, Tiffany Winter (Allan) Clarke, Pittsboro and Niki Winter (Darryl) Necaise, Pittsboro; four great grand children, Cameron Clarke, Cambry Clarke, Cane Necaise and Coby Necaise. Special care givers there for her needs were Emily Bullard, Sarah Moore and Debra Powell. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Lealon Egbert Chrestman; sister, Lorette “Bootsie” James, and great grandson, Colbin Necaise.
Her funeral service will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Interment will be in Pittsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allan Clarke, Cameron Clarke, C.C. Clarke, Hilly Griffin, Tony Hardin, Jerry James, Larry Joe James, Bill Malone, Cane Necaise, Coby Necaise and Darryl Necaise. Honorary pallbearers are Pittsboro Baptist Church deacons, Fred Bullard, Gayle Bullard, John Crump, Phil Hamilton and Van Russell.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce.
