Charles Shinall, 83, of Pittsboro, went to his heavenly home Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born January 7, 1933 in Calhoun County, the son of Melvin and Mary Jenkins Shinall. He was a retired farmer, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was in the United States Army, and proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and also loved gardening.
Funeral services were Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with Bro. Robert Alexander and Bro. Clovis Logan officiating.
Pallbearers were Steve Shinall, Allen Blackwelder, Billy Taylor, Ronnie Clark, Tim Littlejohn and James Landreth. Honorary pallbearers were Don Countiss, Larry Collins, Tom Bailey, William Price Wright, Steve Bryant and Jerry Haire.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Littlejohn Shinall, Pittsboro; daughter, Mary Cathy (Larry) Blackwelder, Pittsboro; grandchild, Michele (Keith) Gaskin, Pittsboro; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Emily and Haley Gaskin; step-grandson, Allen (Carla) Blackwelder, Bruce; step-great grandchildren, Hayden McCostlin and Bryce Blackwelder. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melba Jo Shinall; brother, Robert Shinall; sister, Dorothy Morphis, and grandson, Jason Holder.
