James Taylor

James Adren Taylor, 84, of Water Valley,  died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born August 1, 1932 in Water Valley, to the late Ed and Alyean Black Taylor. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from September, 1949 until October, 1952. He worked at Freeman Truck Lines, then later owned and operated Taylor’s Grocery for many years on Martin Street in Water Valley. He was a deacon and an active member of O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church in Water Valley. He enjoyed fishing, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. following visitation in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Water Valley, with Christopher Taylor, Eddie Bailey, Ethan Taylor, Greg Taylor, James Taylor and Michael Taylor serving as pallbearers.

He is survived by his wife, Roma Dell Trusty Taylor, Bruce Living Center; three daughters, Rebecca Wall, Maynardville, TN; Lisa Jo (Eddie) Bailey, Maynardville, TN, and Trena Williams, Rocky Mount, NC; one son, Michael (Cheryl) Taylor, Duck Hill; his step-son, Glen Tate, Southaven; his sister, Ruby Nell Cardin, Duck Hill; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Taylor, and his brother, Bill Taylor.
