James Jasper (J.J.) Inman, 68, of Brookhaven, passed from this life on February 21, 2017, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 16, 1948 in Vardaman, to Owen Jasper Inman and Allene Woodruff Inman. He was a retired police officer having served in the Brookhaven, Jackson, Ponchatoula, LA and Wesson police forces for 35 years. He served as the Police Chief in Madison, MS. His most recent employment was as a bailiff in the Copiah County Chancery Court. He was also an EMT. He was a member of the Brookhaven Exchange Club. He faithfully attended Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson and was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman, MS. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.Funeral services for James Jasper (J.J.) Inman will be Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at 4:00 PM in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Vardaman, MS. Bro. Stuart Givens will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Preceding him in death were his parents and granddaughter Ashley Sandifer.
Survivors are his wife of 41 years, Sharon Rice Inman; daughters, Cathy Smith and husband Billy of Monticello, MS and Laurie Porter and husband Daniel of Richland, MS; son, Brian Jasper Inman of Cornith, MS; grandchildren, J. T. McCoskey, Brandon McCoskey, Steven Sandifer, Gordon Shipman and Matthew Inman; brother Edward Inman and his wife Tammy of Vardaman and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
