Maurice Cowsert

Maurice Cowsert, 89, of Bruce, passed away  Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Bruce Community Living Center. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro, and retired self-employed upholsterer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was born June 29, 1927 in Bruce, the son of Lem and Lenner Bea Ritchie Cowsert. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth Burt Cowsert, Bruce; sons, Jerry Cowsert, Randolph; Donald (Becky) Cowsert, Falkner, and Ricky (Cindy) Cowsert, Bruce; daughters, Becky (Donnie) Coats , Houlka, and Patricia (Roy) Hughes, Bruce; brothers, L.D. Cowsert, Randolph; Duke Cowsert, Randolph, and Charles Cowsert, Randolph; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother, Jim Cowsert, and sister, Lucille Patterson.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. His funeral ceremony will be Saturday  at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating, and Bro. Jeff Flake and Bro. Danny Washington assisting. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Cemetery in Pittsboro. Pallbearers will be Jason Austin, Jason Berry, Scott Cannon, Brad Cowsert, Shane Cowsert, Stacy Cowsert, Richard Galloway, Jeff Lamb and Donovan Randolph.
