Charles Edward Bennett, 78, passed from this life September 14, 2017 at his home. He was born December 10, 1938 in Bruce. He was a active member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for many years and was a past song leader for over 50 years. His passion was gardening, hunting and listening to his beagles run rabbits. He was a good provider for his family working as a carpenter, contractor and cattle farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lillian Ferguson Bennett; brothers, R.L., Clardis Bennett and Billy Bennett; granddaughter, Kara Thomas, and great granddaughter, Lakyn Burt.
Survivors are his wife of over 64 years, Frances Green Bennett, Bruce; daughters, Vicki (Tommy) Kilgo, Bruce; Patty (Roger) Swanson, Bruce: sons, Jeff (Linda) Bennett, Bruce; Joe (Lisa) Bennett, Bruce; sisters, Nancy (Smokey) Barefield, Bruce; Renee Hardy, Bruce; Kathy (Teddy) Davis, Louisville; grandchildren, Brian Thomas, Chris Bennett, Jeremy Bennett, Nicole McGreger, Josh Bennett, Jesse James, Jarrett Bennett, Kayla Clanton and Erin Beth Earnest and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 16 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home from 5-8. His funeral service will be Sunday at 2 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Little and Bro. Joey Hamilton officiating with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers are Chris Bennett, Jarrett Bennett, Jeremy Bennett, Josh Bennett, Jay Clanton, Will Earnest, Jesse James, Sammy McGreger and Brian Thomas.
