Jim Eldridge Lloyd, 68, passed this life, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at NMMC, Tupelo.
He was born in Houston on July 16, 1949, to the late parents of Thomas E. Lloyd and Blanche Eaves Lloyd. Jim was a graduate of Houston High School Class of 1967, Itawamba Junior College, A.A., Delta State University, B.S., University of Mississippi, M.A. He was an educator where he taught school at Vardaman, guidance counselor for Cumberland High School, and a principal at East Webster Elementary before his retirement in 1997. Jim was a true sportsman as he coached baseball and basketball during his career. He was a proud supporter and follower of Mississippi State University, Women’s Basketball Team. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends and especially his grandchildren. Jim was a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church and the Men’s Adult III Sunday School Class.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria “Dumpy” Gilder Lloyd, Vardaman; son, Jason Eldridge Lloyd (Lisa), Senatobia; daughter, Allyson Cummings (Chad), Pontotoc; sister, Rebecca Lloyd Duke (James), Tupelo; four grandchildren, Tanner Lloyd (Nicole), Caley Lloyd, Tate Lloyd and Jack Lloyd Cummings.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Vardaman First Baptist Church from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Friday, June 8, at Vardaman First Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Joey Hamilton and Bro. James Towery officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Lloyd, Reed Taylor, Clay Spencer, John Waits Jeff Taylor and Marc Hellrung. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult III Men’s Sunday School Class.
