Roy Eugene Box, 90, passed this earthly life January 2, 2019 at his home after an extended illness. He was born November 14, 1928 in Mt. Moriah community to William Terry and Roxie Pearl Brasher Box. He was a retired employee of Calhoun County School District worker as maintenance supervisor. He had previously farmed, and was also an electrician, plumber, welder, mechanic, and blacksmith. He enjoyed making crafts with his hands and unique ideas. He was also an avid deer hunter who enjoyed God’s nature and outdoors. He was a Mason for over 69 years and was a member of the Antioch Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty June Russell Box, Bruce; daughter, June Box (Rowland) Smith, Bruce; son, Ricky Eugene (Tracy) Box, Bruce; brother, Paul Box, Memphis; grandchildren, Misty (Shane) Goodson, Shawn Shepard, Kelly (Mark) Gazaway, Cassidy (Caly) Box, Cody Box, Alex Box, Barrett Box, Ashlyn Box; great grandchildren, Forrest Hamilton, Hudson Hamilton, Sydney Stephan, Madison May, Sarah Erwin, Keegan Barfield, Gauge May, Sophie Shepard, Cayden Box, and great-great grandchildren, Zaiden and Austin Cole Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Helen Williams, Hazel Snellings, Ora Mae Ferguson, Floy Parker; brothers, Durant, Dean, Ray and Hoyt Box, and grandson, Jeremy Box.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. from 6-8 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. His service will be Friday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keegan Barfield, Barrett Box, Cassidy Box, Cayden Box, Cody Box, Forrest Hamilton, Hudson Hamilton, Gauge May, and Shawn Shepard.
