Ruble Burkett Vance, 77, of Vardaman, died February 20, 2014 at Calhoun Health Service Nursing Home in Calhoun City. He was born July 20, 1936 in Chickasaw County, the son of Frank B. Vance and Mary Walls Vance. He was retired from Washington Furniture, was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church, and was a ?Mason. Funeral service was Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Vardaman with Rev. J.R. Eaton, Rev. Archie Goodwin and Rev. Michael Bishop officiating. Burial was in Elzy Cemetery in Vardaman. Pallbearers were Ravis Winter, Jeremy Winter, Bobby Whitt, Johnny Whitt, Jerry McClain, Ricky McClain, Robert McClain, Bill Wright, Jason Hooper and Dillon Williams. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry (Craig)?Williams, Vardaman; two sisters, Grace McClain, Vardaman, and Joyce Hooper, Mathiston; one brother, R.E. Vance, Houston, and two grandchildren, Trisha Lynn Williams and Dillon Craig Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Vance; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Vance, and two sons, Wayne Vance and John Vance, and four sisters.
