Myra Delle Griffin Shields, 96, of Coffeeville died July 20, 2019 at Yalobusha County Nursing Home. She was born September 28, 1922 in Chickasaw County to Clarence Mathis and Dewy May Hathcock Griffin.
She worked at Kellwood Company numerous years before retirement, which didn’t last long, as she spent most of her days setting stitches on a quilt, or out in the garden tending to plants. She had a special eye for yellow roses she grew and spent several hours admiring. She worshiped Jesus at Elam Baptist Church.
Survivors are sons, William Douglas (Marie) Shields, Coffeeville; Lucian Eldridge (Kay) Shields, Jr., Florence; daughters, Lynn Moore, Houston; Lena Robertson (Reps) Navarre, FL; brother, Curtis Griffin, Spanish Fort, AL; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lucian E. Shields, Sr., daughter, Frances Reaves, six brothers, and three sisters.
Her funeral service was Monday at Elam Baptist Church with Bro. David Poynor and Bro. Craig Baker officiating. Interment was at Antioch Cemetery in Bruce. Pallbearers were Joshua Martin, David Moore, Harold Reaves, Jr. Justin Shields, Todd Shields, Tony Shields. Honorary pallbearers were Shane Griffith, Bryan McCullough, David Shamoon Reaves Shamoon and Corbin Shields.
