Ottis “Pop” Wayne McCormick, 74, of Saltillo passed from this life June 8, 2020 at his home after an extended illness. Born November 6, 1945 in Bruce, he was a son to Ira and Euris (Tutor) McCormick.
A true man of God, he was ordained as a deacon June 11, 1978 where he faithfully served in this role of church leadership for many years. He not only attended Faith Baptist Church, but actively participated in the church and was a member of the Joy Club. Along with his participation, he greeted each person with a smiling face every Sunday morning, and served as an usher when needed. He had a passion and a deep love for the Ole Miss Rebels, cheering them on every Saturday in the fall.
He leaves a loving family to carry his memory: wife, Jimmie Hall McCormick, Saltillo; son, Johnathan Wayne (Peggy) McCormick, Booneville; brothers: E.L “Bundy” (Louise) McCormick, Bruce; J.M “Jam Up” (Virginia) McCormick, Bruce; J.D “Peanut” (Virginia Kay) McCormick, Bruce, Sarepta; sister, Bobbie Frizzell Watkins, Abbieville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Melvis and Clovis McCormick, and sisters Idell York and Dorothy Harville.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Friday, June 12 in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Hatfield, Bro. Darrell Logan, Bro. Bennie Hill and Bro. Bret McGee officiating.
Ron Burcham, Russell Pardin, Gary McCormick, Kevin McCormick, Lynn McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Perry McCormick and Tony McCormick will carry him to rest in Pittsboro Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Club, Prasie Sunday School Class, Funeral Ministry Ladies, nieces and nephews.
