On Saturday, February 27, 2021, in the early morning hours, Carl Mark Lucius was called to his heavenly home. He was born March 8, 1948, in Houston, to Spencer and Alto Lucius. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. He lived life to the fullest when it came to loving his family. He would leave you with a smile or laughter every time you had an encounter with him. The path he leaves behind is well paved with the values of life for his family to follow. He was a graduate of Calhoun City High School. On December 6, 1968, he married the love of his life, Jan Hamilton of Vardaman, and they have celebrated over 52 years of dedicated marriage. They began their family in 1969 with the birth of their daughter, Tracey, and completed their family with their son, Jason.

Mark displayed the true ethics of work, dedication, and providing for his family, none of which he used for self-glory. All he did was for the love and enjoyment of his family. He was devoted to that love, and his life story was well illustrated in showing this. He was retired as a truck driver from Franklin Manufacturing where he and Jan team drove in 2015. Although retired, he didn’t sit still very long. He began driving for Harrison Logging of Gore Springs. In January of 2021, he was involved in, and suffered major injuries from a wreck in his log truck. The fight to try to overcome those injuries was long  and difficult, but he kept holding on to the battle.

Mark was preceded in death by his father and mother;  brothers, Larry and Spencer Ray Lucius, and sisters, Betty Lucius, Geraldine Lucius Parker, and Alax Lucius Dickerson. He leaves his wife, Jan Hamilton Lucius-Vardaman;  daughter, Tracey (Leslie) Harrelson, Vardaman; son, Jason (Misty) of Calhoun City; grandchildren, Courtney Harrelson (Ricky) Ware, Houston; Levi Harrelson, Vardaman; Garrett (Kristen) Lucius and Gage Lucius, Calhoun City; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Tatum Ware, Houston; brothers, Kemp (Margie) Lucius; Phil (Joyce) Lucius; Mike (Shirley) Lucius, all of Derma.

Also known as Big Daddy, Mark has made Heaven a brighter place for all of his loved ones to desire.

Funeral services were March 2 at New Providence Baptist Church with burial at New Providence Cemetery. All services will be carried out by Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City.
