Funeral services for John C. Terrell, 83, of Waynesboro, will be held Saturday, May 10, from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens in Wayne County.
Born in Laurel on March 23, 1931, he lived almost all of his life in Waynesboro. He died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown. A member of First Baptist Church, he was one of the first two mail carriers in Waynesboro. He carried mail there for 26 years. He was also stationed in Germany as a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Harry and Grenada Simmons, Meridian, and Dr. Willie Lee and Rose Wells, Bruce; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Robert and Lucy Elizabeth Jordan Terrell; his wife, Jimmie Sue Dyess Terrell; one son, Gene Alonzo Terrell, and one grandchild, Joseph Clinton Terrell.
