Shelia Nelson

Sheila Gregory Nelson, 51, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Water Valley, after a long battle with breast cancer.  She was born September 21, 1963 in Bruce, to Carolyn Hodge and the late Jimmy “Butch” Gregory.  She was a member of New El Bethel Baptist Church, and a former Girl Scout leader. She loved riding motorcycles and was an active member of the Lake Trash Charity Riders where she served as First Lady.  She enjoyed working in her yard, working with her flowers, gardening and taking care of her dog, Willie, whom she affectionately called her “fourth child”. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking large meals for all her family and friends.  She loved everyone, and all who knew her, loved her.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley.  Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Chaplain Wayne Harlow and Pastor Bill Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery in Yalobusha County with Steven Langham, Howard Brower, Craig Stewart, Robert Winters, Steve Baker, Paul Ferguson and Danny “Dink” Perry serving as pallbearers.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Nelson, Water Valley; two daughters, Sarah Nelson and Kristie Nelson, both of Water Valley; her son, Steven Brock Langham, Water Valley; her mother, Carolyn (Kenneth) Hodge, Oxford; her sister, Beverly (Blake) Giles, Oxford; her brother, Jimmy “Roe” Gregory, Oxford; her grandmother, Janet Kirby, Calhoun City, and one grandson, Bryson Wayne Nelson, Water Valley. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy “Butch” Gregory; her grandparents, Jimmy and Jonnie Gregory and her grandfather, Leroy Kirby.
