Funeral services for Martha Suggs, 80 of Murchison were February 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Bro. Eddie Marsh and Bro. Rick Griffin officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
She passed away February 8, 2015 in Friendswood. She was born January 10, 1935 in Calhoun County, to Aaron Ellis and Ada Mae McCormick Peden. She had resided in Murchison since 1972, and was married to the late James Suggs for 50 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownsboro and the Women’s Missionary Auxillary of Opelika Missionary Baptist Church. She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting and gardening. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her son James (Gale) Suggs, Chandler; daughter, Patsy Monk, Tyler; grandchildren, James Nelson (Kassy) Suggs, Frankston, Melinda (Robert) Payne, Friendswood; Sarah Neal, Murchison; Katy Monk, Tyler; Jesse Monk, Tyler; Matthew (Sara) Suggs, Chandler; Andrew Suggs and Hailey Suggs, both of Chandler; great grandchildren, Rainy Payne and Jackson Payne, Friendswood; James Nelson Suggs IV, Frankston; Henry Suggs, Jack Suggs, Kash Suggs, all of Frankston; Eric Suggs, Chandler; sisters Pauline and James Coston, Gulf Port; Linda and Gary Aldridge, Olive Branch,and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Ruth Griffin, Eunice Peden, Nina Pearl Gregory and son, Alexander Dewayne Suggs.
Pallbearers were James Nelson Suggs III, Matthew Lamar Suggs, Andrew Logan Suggs, James Nelson Suggs IV, Jesse Allan Monk, Robert Edward Payne, Jackson Montgomery Payne, Henry Cole Suggs. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Nolan Suggs, Kash Ryan Suggs and Eric Lamar Suggs.
