J.W. Rodgers, 80, of Calhoun City, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at UMMC Hospital in Grenada. He was born December 12, 1934 in Calhoun County, the son of Tommy Rodgers and Onie Barnette Rodgers. He was a retired auto parts owner and member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
His funeral service was Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City with Bro. Dwight Brown and Bro. John Stewart officiating. Burial was in Oak Springs Cemetery in Derma. Pryor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Parker Honeycutt, Tucker Bullard, Billy Hankins, Michael Kendall, Lynn Lucius and James Baker.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Tingle, Grenada; his son, William Lee Rodgers, Calhoun City; two brothers, Lynn (Martha) Rodgers, Calhoun City; Danny (Laura) Rodgers, Bruce; two grandchildren, Tiffany Tingle (Parker) Honeycutt and Courtney Tingle; and two great-grandchildren, Carson Honeycutt and Carter Honeycutt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Baker Rodgers, parents, one brother, Jim Rodgers, and son-in-law, Barry Tingle.
