Ann Lindsey Burgess, 83, of Memphis, died peacefully on July 16, 2015. She was born October 16, 1931, in Banner, the daughter of Boyce Lindsey and Addie Chloe Riley McMahan. She graduated from Memphis Technical High School in 1949 and retired from The University of Memphis after 35 years of loyal service, where she was honored for her work with students for whom she provided vocational placement and guidance. A member of First Baptist on East Parkway North since 1951, she was a faithful Sunday school member, Sarah Cunningham’s right hand person, and an active participant in Baptist Women. She loved to volunteer her time in the church office and was known as an avid, die hard, Ole Miss Rebel.
She was preceded in death by her brother Sonny Lindsey, and sister Nina Jo Lindsey McMahan. She was survived by her husband of 66 years, Bruce Burgess; sister Delores Sherrill, Madison, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral service has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2015, 2 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with interment immediately following.
